Authorities are investigating two overnight Grand Rapids incidents involving gunfire reported between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Friday.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says a call for the first came in just after 2 a.m.

The caller heard several gunshots fired and saw three men running away from an area near the 500 block of Shirley St. NE. A victim was not found or identified by police.

Just before 3 a.m., police say a 23-year-old male came into an area hospital with an upper-chest gunshot wound.

The victim told police he was shot near Grandville and Clyde Park avenues on the southwest side of the city. Police say he is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The GRPD says it’s unknown if the two shootings are related.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department at 626-456-3400, or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or SilentObserver.org.
