Police say a 17-year-old male was shot in the lower calf on Tuesday night near the Blue Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids.

A GRPD spokesperson says the teenager was standing with a group of friends before 11 p.m. on the east side of the bridge near Campau Avenue NW when multiple shots were fired.

The male ran to Rosa Parks Circle, and found a nearby officer.

Police say the teenager didn’t know if he or the group was targeted or not.

The male was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The GRPD says multiple witnesses have been interviewed since Tuesday night.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the GRPD at 616-456-3400, or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or SilentObserver.org.
