Man missing after jumping from boat to swim

Authorities say a 38-year-old man is missing after he jumped from a boat to swim in the St. Clair River and didn't resurface.

The search resumed Tuesday morning for the man, who was reported missing Monday evening from the boat near the Algonac Harbour Club.

The St. Clair County sheriff's department dive team searched Monday night for the man without finding him before calling off the search for the night due to darkness. The department says a dive team boat with sonar is searching the river's North Channel.

The sheriff's department says the man was one of four people who jumped from the boat into the water about 35 miles northeast of Detroit. The other three surfaced after jumping in, but the missing man didn't. His name wasn't immediately released.
