A western Michigan prosecutor says police officers acting on a tip searched land near the home of a man under investigation for the disappearance of a gas station clerk, but nothing was found.
WOOD-TV reports police searched an abandoned rail bed Friday near Jeffrey Willis' home for the body of 25-year-old Jessica Heeringa, who disappeared in 2013.
Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson says investigators didn't find anything. Willis waived his right this week to a hearing to determine whether there's enough evidence for him to stand trial in the abduction of a 16-year-old girl.
He's also accused of killing jogger Rebekah Bletsch in 2014. Authorities say the teen escaped from Willis' van in April and identified him in a photo lineup.
