Downtown-adjacent Meijer a Grand Rapids possibility

Google Maps

A new mixed-use development may bring a grocery store closer to downtown Grand Rapids residents.

Representatives from Rockford Construction and Meijer say in a joint statement the companies are exploring the idea at a site on the corner of Bridge Street NW and Seward Avenue NW.

The statement calls Meijer an initial partner in the project.

Rockford says it’s part of a larger mixed-use development, which would include a mix of housing, office space and other first-floor retail.

A Duthler’s Family Foods is located a couple blocks past the proposed structure, away from downtown.
