City of Muskegon employees who buy a house within city limits may qualify for financial incentives under a new proposal.
The Employee Homeownership Program, if approved by city officials, would offer an up-to $500 matching down payment.
It would also provide forgivable matching loans, depending on neighborhood and other factors.
An overall up-to $5,000 match would be available.
Officials say it’s one piece of larger and ongoing neighborhood stabilization and blight elimination efforts.
It’s also meant to encourage employees interested in becoming homeowners.
Muskegon City Commissioners review the proposal at the board’s Tuesday evening meeting.
