Progress has been made clearing the roads and streets following an estimated eight to 10 inches of snow that fell around west Michigan Wednesday.

Multiple local agencies reported plow crews out on state highways and major streets Wednesday evening through today.

The Kent County Road Commission says clearing of county primary roads began early this morning and expects plows out all day before completing the system.

A spokesperson at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport says snow caused a few delays, but flights were otherwise running smoothly.

The local bureau of the National Weather Service says total snow accumulation varied from six to 14 inches across lower Michigan.

Areas of Kent and Ottawa County were hit with between eight and 12 inches.

Total snowfall dropped to six inches or less out in areas of Muskegon, Oceana and Newaygo counties.
