Western Michigan man charged in 5-month-old nephew's death
A 20-year-old western Michigan man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of his 5-month-old nephew who was covered with blankets and pillows in an effort to quiet him.
Joseph Nguyen was arraigned Wednesday in Wyoming District Court.
Investigators were told that Isaiah Nguyen was found unresponsive Saturday and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The boy's father, Viet Nguyen of Wyoming, has been charged with lying to investigators after police were told the boy was sleeping in bed with him.
Joseph Nguyen and Viet Nguyen have been released on bond.
The Associated Press was unable to reach the brothers Wednesday for comment.
