Authorities have named a suspect arrested in a weekend Grand Rapids shooting that left one in critical condition.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says 68-year-old Jose Quintino was arraigned Wednesday in district court on three felony charges related to the weekend shooting at a Grand Rapids gas station.

Quintino is charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying of a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon by a felon.

Police say the 68-year-old male is also charged as being a third-time habitual offender.

He turned himself in on Tuesday to police headquarters.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at a Marathon gas station on Franklin St. SW.

Police say Quintino allegedly shot a 24-year-old male victim in the chest in the parking lot after a verbal argument inside of the store.

Quintino’s bond was set at $500,000.

A preliminary examination is scheduled at the end of this month.
