Some council members say they will be the first customers

“I do think it’s something that could be a benefit to the community.”
Gabe Melching says he’d been thinking about starting a Spring Lake pedal pub business for some time.

“I brought the concept of a pedal pub close to a year ago.”

A Pedal pub is a multi-person bicycle.  Passengers pedal the bike along a designated route and are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages. Many details like licensing are still not final, but Melching says he hopes to have his pedal pub operating this spring.

“I obviously want it to be successful but also something that benefits the entire community which I do think it could be.”

“A motion to approve proposed pedal pub ordinance.”

All members of the village council voted to allow pedal pubs. Some on council said they will be among the first passengers.

“Looking forward to it.  Yea, first customer. I think we discussed getting like a bulk rate here.”
