Nicole Kidman is the big star, but producers say the city of Holland, MI also plays a big role in the film

“Every day I get to wake up in the best place on earth Holland, Michigan.”

In the film Niclole Kidman plays a teacher and wife.

“And she has inner conflicts, and she is looking for adventure.”

The film is directed by Mimi Cave.

“It’s a small-town mystery thriller about a wife sort of unraveling.”

And she says the Holland windmill, the Tulip Time festival and thousands of tulips help tell the story.

“I’m from Chicago. I grew up going to Holland, Michigan. I kind of just used that experience to feed into the film.”

The parades and most of the action were shot at a town in Tennessee, but the crew spent a few days filming in Holland on Windmill Island, and at Tulip Time. Supporting actor Gael Garcia Bernal says he had never been to Holland.

“This mid-western town I couldn’t even picture when I was reading the script, so it was interesting to go into that part of the United States. It was very special.”

The film premiers nationwide March 27th on Prime Video.

“With Holland you have this very sort of colorful, happy, perfect world and it’s just about finding the cracks and they are always there.”
