The “modernized” system could improve efficiency and access to justice

The 63rd District Court In Kent County will soon adopt the Mi-File statewide electronic filing system. A news release says the system is sponsored by the Michigan Supreme Court and State Court administrative office. The move will provide attorneys and self-represented litigants with access to submit and serve legal documents electronically. This will eliminate the need for in-person visits to the courthouse.

Chief Judge Jeffrey J. O’Hara of the 63rd District Court. Says quote, ““Implementing MiFILE at the 63rd District Court is a significant step forward in improving efficiency and access to justice,” said “By streamlining the filing process, we are enhancing convenience for litigants while ensuring that our court operates more effectively in serving the community. This system will reduce wait times, lowers costs associated with physical filing, and makes the legal process more accessible to residents who may have difficulty traveling to the courthouse.” End quote.

The 63rd District Court is on track to officially implement MiFILE within the next 90 business days.
