The National Cherry Festival

The Roving Microphone takes you back to the final day of the 97th year of The National Cherry Festival in Traverse City.

We talked to Rob Sims a former Detroit Lion and Grand Marshal and wife Natalie; Bailey Judson Creative Director of the festival; Kevin Kline, CEO of the Cherry Capital Airport; Scotty Kehoe, Director of Gas Operations at DTE; The newly founded National Cherry Queen, Carmen Beemer; Kat Pay, Executive Director of the National Cherry Festival; and Michigan's Lt. Governor, Garlin Gilchrist.

This year’s festival also included a cherry spitting contest, and the infamous arcade, hear sounds from those events as well.

Shelley Irwin is the host and producer for The Shelley Irwin Show, a news magazine talk-show format on the local NPR affiliate Monday through Friday. The show, broadcast at 9 a.m., features a wide variety of local and national news makers, plus special features.
