Mackinac Island does it again. Coming off a recent interview with the author of Summer on Lilac Island, we turn to the experts on the island to discuss being named #3 Best Island in the Continental U.S. Steph Castleline talks about Travel and Leisure’s 2025 World’s Best Awards and how #3 came to be.

University of Michigan Health West looks to challenge West Michiganders to get outside and participate in health and wellness programs, including this Wednesday’s Metro Way 5k and youth races. President Dr. Ronald Grifka talks about this and various programs to support community health, including low cost and free health screenings, fitness classes and education programs.

It's an event that helps students prepare for back to school. WGVU’s Shelley Irwin talked to Jessica Johns from the Storehouse of Community Resources about August 12th's Big BackPack Build, a major initiative aiming to distribute 12,500 backpacks filled with essential school needs to lucky local students.

Local authors/sisters Aly Kuch and Raine Arking-Kuch write a book together, a femme fantasy novel entitled Willful, Wise and Wicked, a collection of stories featuring strong heroines. Aly joins in to share the work, each story about star crossed outlaws, moon spirits and first dates turning into sacrifice.
