It’s time for the cookie sales. Better said, time for girls involved in Girls Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore to work on their leadership/business/sales skills. Director of Marketing Shelley Tansley discusses why this activity is such a strong supporter for shaping the future of girl leadership.

Local Author Ryan Welch discusses his latest release, answering the question, do you want to collect sports memorabilia? The Book, An Introduction to Sports Memorabilia: How to know what you have and get what you want, shares Welch’s history in sports collection and appraisal.

It’s been decades since Grand Rapidian Jocelyn Dettlof experienced a life changing injury while on a climbing adventure. She continues practicing the art of perseverance in a new year, sharing guidance with listeners. The book It Rained in the Desert: One Woman’s Story of Spirit and Resilience is discussed, in addition to other ways to keep one motivated and resilient when challenged.

We remind you of the Tigerbelles, a 1960 Tennessee State University all Black women’s track team which found Olympic Glory at the 1960 games. Author Aime Alley Card writes the book The Tigerbelles, Olympic Legends from Tennessee State. Of significance, we talk about the effects of the Jim Crow Era in the South and how the country was changing, noting challenges for the team.
