Board Chair says no conflict of interest with Kallman Legal Group despite business relationship with family member

The U.S. Department of Labor found Tacos el Cuñado Alpine LLC failed to keep accurate pay records and to pay tipped and non-tipped workers time-and-one-half their average rate of pay for hours over 40 in a workweek.

The settlement agreement filed in December also permits the company to implement a surcharge to recover $6 million for a 2021 distribution deferral.

The city has nearly doubled its daytime, half-hour rate in eight of its parking garages downtown. The cost rising from $1.25 to $2 at most locations.

In January Michigan’s minimum wage took a 23-cent jump, landing at $10.10 per hour for non-tipped workers, but whether it will rise again is still being decided.
