Vice President Pence campaigns in Grand Rapids, praises SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett

The Trump Campaign made a stop in West Michigan Wednesday, as United States Vice President Mike Pence held a rally in Grand Rapids. The event came outside of Lacks Enterprises, a car-detail company on the city’s southeast side. During the roughly 50 minute speech, Pence praised law enforcement officials  and vowed that the White House would never defund police, something he accused opponents Joe Biden and Kamala Harris of being in favor of.

Pence also called President Donald Trump a champion for the working class, and said the President is the reason for the automotive industry’s economic comeback in Michigan.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, I am proud to report here, in the great state of Michigan, that the automotive industry is roaring back in America,” Pence said. “Last year GM announced they are adding 400 jobs in this state, and Fiat Chrysler is already building a 1.6 billion assembling plant that is going to create 6400 good paying jobs,” he said.

With Senate hearings in full swing this week, Pence also vowed the Republican led Senate would approve President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.

“President Donald Trump fulfilled his duty under the constitution when he nominated a brilliant, conservative, woman to the United States Supreme Court in Justice Amy Coney Barret. Isn’t she something?” Pence said.

Both the Trump Campaign and the Biden campaign have pledge to focus on the state of Michigan leading up to the November election, now just under three weeks away.

This Saturday, President Donald Trump will hold a campaign rally in Muskegon, where he says he will focus on supporting law enforcement.
