Nessel joins states opposing Trump’s national emergency declaration

Attorney General Dana Nessel wants to stop President Donald Trump’s plan to build a border wall between the U-S and Mexico.

Nessel joined a lawsuit to stop Trump’s declaration of a national emergency along the southern border.

President Trump declared the emergency last week. He hasn’t been able to get Congress to pass a spending bill to build a wall along the southern border – a major 20-16 campaign promise.

Attorney General Dana Nessel says this is a quote – “manufactured emergency.”

“I think it’s important that we use the office of Michigan Attorney General to stand up for our citizens here in the state of Michigan and to make certain that the executive is not improperly absconding with funds that belong to our state.”

15 other states signed on to the lawsuit. The states want the court to stop Trump from using federal money for a wall on the border and prevent Trump from constructing a border wall without approval from Congress.
