A 34-year-old man has been captured after escaping from a county jail in northern Michigan. The Montmorency County sheriff's office says that Jeffrey Markby was found Monday morning inside a travel trailer behind a home in Atlanta, Michigan. He surrendered without a struggle. A motorist saw Markby running Sunday evening from jail property into a nearby cemetery. Authorities say Markby covered razor wire on a fence, but was cut while escaping. He was being treated Monday at a hospital for his injuries and for exposure to the elements. Markby had been jailed on possession of a controlled substance.
