GVSU releases recommendations for students ahead of Thanksgiving break

GVSU

Grand Valley State University is issuing a new set of recommendations for its students as the Thanksgiving Break is just around the corner. Beginning Tuesday, students are encouraged to practice enhanced safety measures for 14 days prior to the Thanksgiving break, which begins on November 25.

Those recommendations include only leaving the house to get food or medicine, attend classes, go to work or exercise, and not necessarily for their own well-being.

With many of Grand Valley students leaving campus and traveling home for the holiday, the University’s says that it’s important not to bring the coronavirus home with them for Thanksgiving, where they may be greeted by more vulnerable persons such as grandparents.

The university is also urging students to resist the temptation over the holiday break to gather in large groups, and of course to always wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Cases of the coronavirus continue to skyrocket in Michigan, as the state hit a new one-day record over the weekend with 6,225 new coronavirus infections. That single day mark beat the previous record, which came just two days earlier on Thursday.
