Ex-Michigan lawmakers embroiled in sex scandal to run again

Two conservative ex-lawmakers in Michigan who had an extramarital affair and attempted to conceal it will both run for their old seats.

Todd Courser resigned last week amid House debate over whether to expel him and fellow tea party Republican Cindy Gamrat.

Courser told WWJ-AM on Friday he would run, and a Facebook post says his wife supports the move.

Gamrat was expelled by the house, but announced Thursday she's running again.

Courser sent a hoax email to GOP activists and others in May that claimed he'd been caught with a male prostitute.

The intent was to make his affair with Gamrat less believable if exposed.

The primary will be Nov. 3 and the special election March 8 in the Republican-heavy districts.
