Democratic state lawmakers renewed their demand today for a bipartisan legislative commission. It’s job would be to examine possible links between Michigan insurrectionists and the January 6th attack on the US Capitol.

Eleven Michigan residents face charges related to the attack on the US Capitol. House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski says that’s not a coincidence and the DC attack didn’t just happen.

“That took planning. That took organization, and we’re seeing a lot of threads, when you start to untangle them, that lead directly back to Michigan.”

Lasinski hearkened back to the plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the April 2020 demonstration at the Michigan Capitol, where armed protestors spilled into the building while the Legislature was in session. She called that a -quote- “dress rehearsal” for the US Capitol attack.
