Court issues temporarily order to shut down Enbridge Line 5

wikipedia.com

A judge has ordered Enbridge Energy to shut down a set of twin pipelines that run through the Straits of Mackinac.
That’s in response to a request filed by state Attorney General Dana Nessel.

The attorney general asked for the temporary shutdown of the twin pipelines that carry oil and natural gas liquids. That was after Enbridge reported damage to an anchor support.
Ryan Jarvis with the attorney general’s office says that leaves many unanswered questions about the safety of Line Five and whether it should even be in the Great Lakes.

“This is an example of the risk that these pipelines pose to our Great Lakes and natural resources, and so I think ultimately the complete removal of these pipelines is the end goal.”

The next hearing is scheduled to take place Tuesday before the Ingham County Circuit Court judge.
