In this podcast MCEC student Jayden Bevans interviews Tony Williams as he speaks about growing up in Muskegon, civil rights, the challenges that he faced racially, in employment, and gaining acceptance both in the community and the workplace.
Tony Williams was born and raised in Muskegon, MI. He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1973 growing up in West Michigan during one of the most tumultuous times in our county’s history. Tony is also a graduate of Cleveland State University and owns a Farmers Insurance Agency in Muskegon. He is a Vice President of the Muskegon Big Red Athletic Foundation, a board member of the Muskegon Area Hall Sports of Fame and a play by play announcer for Muskegon Big Reds Football and Basketball. He has been married to his wife Vivian for 43 years and has two children and three grandchildren.
