“I’m here to support Dr. El-Sayed. Because on this subject, I know he will be a champion.”
Vice President Harris had received the endorsement of El-Sayed in her 2024 presidential run, but El-Sayed remained critical of her policy towards Israel’s attacks in Gaza. At a news conference earlier in the day, El-Sayed explained why she got his vote in 2024.
“I understood that she would be the better option, and that's why I endorsed her. It's why I campaigned for her, and it's also why you know worked with the campaign to try to move on that issue.”
In a statement, El-Sayed’s opponent, Republican Mike Rogers, called the endorsement “desperate.”
