Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker chaired the committee, which included County Clerk Lisa Posthumus Lyons and Probate Court Chief Judge Avery Rose.

Becker noted that Muir “is highly respected by law enforcement professionals across Michigan and beyond and has consistently demonstrated the leadership, integrity, and commitment to justice needed to serve the people of Kent County.”

Muir will fill the remainder of LaJoye-Young’s elected term which runs through December 2028.
