Sen. Hauck poised to win Senate Republican leadership battle

State Senator Roger Hauck serves a safe Republican district in the Mount Pleasant area.
 
He spent three terms in the Michigan House of Representatives before jumping to the Senate four years ago.
 
Hauck describes his leadership style as inclusive—especially in the smaller chamber.
 
“Everybody has a voice right? So you have to try to coalesce behind everybody. And if something comes where I would like to see something done but if my caucus doesn’t want to do it then it's not going to go through.”
 
Hauck’s first test will be how Republican candidates fare this general election as they look to flip at least three seats and take back the majority.
 
One of those targets belongs to the presumed next Democratic leader—Senator Darrin Camilleri.
