UPDATE:
Two 28-year-old women - Jazzmin Hock and Sara Vida of Muskegon – and 9-year-old Kayden Kovalcik were located safe by an MSP K-9 team and Michigan DNR Conservation Officers approximately three-quarters of a mile northeast of the Mill Iron Rd Boat Launch just after at 4:30 pm Friday.
Michigan State Police had been leading teams searching along the Muskegon River in Newaygo County, looking for the three after they did not return from tubing Tuesday.
The investigation began Wednesday after the father of one missing woman discovered her vehicle parked at the Maple Island Boat Launch with a window broken out.
Troopers say the three were using orange and pink pool floats which were located Thursday evening along with footprints.
In a release n Friday, Michigan State Police credited the joint effort, stating:
"It was truly remarkable to see so many highly trained professionals from multiple agencies come together by establishing a Unified Command, share resources, and work as one team toward a common goal... We are grateful that this search concluded with a positive outcome."
The statement went on to thank the public for their patience, cooperation, and the information provided throughout the search.
It noted that out of respect for the privacy of those involved, no additional information will be released at this time.
