Libertarian National Chair: Courting Young Voters is Key to Breaking the 'Two-Party Duopoly'

Party members at the 2026 Libertarian National Convention are convening to set policy and select new leadership.

Current National Chair Steven Nekhaila says the way to increase the party’s impact in elections is by reaching younger voters dissatisfied with the two-party duopoly.

“We’re the only party that’s been consistently anti-war for over 50 years. We were the first party that was pro-LGBTQ, for freedom before it became in vogue. We’re the only hardcore Second Amendment party, the only hardcore capitalist party. We’re all these things and have been forever and we don’t flip-flop.”

Former West Michigan Congressman Justin Amash, Republican turned Libertarian, is the convention’s keynote speaker.

“People like Justin show libertarianism in practice and what that means on the national stage. Same thing with Ron Paul, Thomas Massey and these Libertarian-leaning Congressmen.”

Leaders say the convention is an opportunity to discuss tangible ways to impact elections and the issues facing Americans by challenge viewpoints and bringing fresh ideas to the forefront.
