The Ottawa County Department of Public Health confirmed two more cases of measles in Ottawa County, which means there are now 3 confirmed cases in all.
All three people live in the same household. And because the cases are linked, officials say this is now considered an outbreak.
The two newly confirmed cases were already being monitored after the first case and officials say they stayed home during the time they could have spread measles, so no additional exposures are expected outside the household.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will now list this as an outbreak on their measles dashboard.Authorities emphasize this designation does not indicate any new or increased risk to the community.
Ottawa County Department of Public Health says it will continue to monitor for any additional cases, if none are identified, the outbreak will be declared over by the end of the month.
The health department does advise residents to check their immunity and if you have any questions about immunity, to give their office a call.
