Angelica Johnson says she’s not surprised by the outcome; she never trusted the investigation of Grand Rapids police officers by Michigan State Police, a standard procedure.
“It’s just a corrupt system... So, you really think we’re going to trust the police with the police?”
Prosecutor Chris Becker called her with his decision before holding a media conference to announce it publicly.
Supporters watched from the lobby via livestream when they were denied entry into the briefing, pointing out none of the videos released show Johnson pointing a gun at officers.
“Have someone pull your left arm up to your shoulder blade while you’re lying on the ground and have someone else step on your right arm, tell the dog to attack you and then let me know if you’re capable of holding a gun in an officer’s face.”
Johnson vows she will appeal to the Michigan Attorney General’s office to review the case.
“I don’t stop the fight. It’s a whole movement. I’m not just fighting for Da’Quain.”
