The Grand Rapids Community Foundation has been serving Kent County for over 100 years through community partnerships and philanthropic grant making. Community Giving Manager at the Foundation, Hannah Fernando:
“The Grand Rapids Community Foundation has a real long legacy of being in partnership with institutions really big and really small.”
This month, the Foundation is celebrating its 20-year partnership with the Black Legacy Fund, which has awarded nearly $1 million to Black community organizations and nonprofits in the Grand Rapids area. Co-chair of the fund, Kyle Kimble:
“We’re super proud to really be funding the amazing work within the Black and Brown communities and working with different grant partners and uplifting Black brilliance within the community.”
The Fund’s most recent grant round awarded $382,000 to 16 local nonprofits such as the African Resource Center and Deborah’s House.
“This year, we’re able to really hear from specific grant partners at our gala about this specific boots-on-the-ground work.”
The Black Legacy Fund 20th Anniversary Gala takes place Friday, February 27th from 6 to 9 p.m. at New Vintage Place in Grand Rapids. Tickets can be purchased here.
