National Infant Immunization Week highlights the importance of protecting infants and young children from vaccine-preventable diseases

Physicians across the state signed a letter in support of a new bill package that would help protect vaccine access in the state and give parents information about vaccine rates in schools

Democratic state lawmakers have introduced a bill package to expand vaccine information and access.

More than 260 physicians signed a letter in support of the package.

Federal officials have changed vaccine policies under health secretary RFK JR.

Democratic state Representative Dr. Matt Longjohn says declining vaccination rates and rising vaccine skepticism have led to a resurgence of measles in the U-S.

“The U.S. is expected to lose its status over 25 years old now as being one of the countries that's contained measles. We are now expected in January to go back to a place where the U-S is considered to have measles to be endemic.”

The bill package would require insurance companies in Michigan to cover vaccines. It would also require schools to share vaccination rates.
