The facility is a combination of new clinic space and a surgical center, expanding access to orthopaedic care and modern outpatient surgical services across West Michigan in a new way.
Dr. Kenneth J. Easton, President of Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan, says there's been a growing desire for outpatient orthopaedic care.
“People want to come into the hospital and if they can have a total knee or total hip replaced that day and leave the same day or final procedure done and leave the same day and go home. Basically, recovering in the comfort of their own home and so some of the technology advances that we've had allow us to do this now.”
Easton says the project reinforces the long-standing relationship with University of Michigan Health-West, and the organizations' shared goals and values.
“I think that we're going to take the best of both organizations and be able to create something unique and very special. And we're very fortunate very, to have U of M Health as our partner, and it has been a true partnership.”
The project includes the sale of nearly nine acres along Metro Court SW to an OAM-affiliated entity for $5.99 million.
Renovation of the existing building and construction of a addition are expected to begin in 2026.
The new facility will replace OAM’s Surgery Center at MidTowne and consolidate OAM’s outpatient surgical services.
Clinical space is set to open in 2026 with urgent care and occupational therapy.
The surgical center is expected to open by 2027.
