It’s almost time for the 33rd annual GRPS Turkey Trot.Organizers just announced they’re ahead of last year’s record setting registration pace. With that, they’re saying the event is in position to surpass its all-time participation record on Thanksgiving morning.
More than 54-hundred runners are already registered.Last year, they landed on over 64-hundred participants… raising more than 300-thousand dollars for GRPS athletics.
And this year’s Turkey Trot offers yet another and new opportunity for community impact. It’s a holiday food drive to support local families.
Non-perishable food donations will be collected on race day outside Van Andel Arena at a trailer marked by a giant inflatable turkey. All donated items will go directly to Grand Rapids families in need.
Stephanie Andrews, president and CEO of the GRPS Foundation, says, “This is our final push before race day, and every registration helps GRPS scholar-athletes and families across our city. It’s a powerful reminder of how Grand Rapids rallies for one another.”
Participants can sign up online until the start of the race.
The annual Turkey Trot takes place Thursday, Thanksgiving Day starting at 8:30 am. You can follow the Turkey Trot on Facebook and Instagram.
