As the weather starts to change and temperatures drop, Mel Trotter Ministries
has launched its annual clothing drive

CODE BLUE is Mel Trotter Ministries annual clothing drive that aims to provide winter outerwear to children and adults who are unhoused in the West Michigan community.

Mel Trotter teams up every year with community partners to place blue barrels in local businesses and other public locations.Their goal: to gather new and gently used winter clothing for those who are homeless.
Code Blue hopes to pull in essential and high demand items like hand warmers, winter coats, hats, mittens, gloves, boots, socks and more.

Chris Palusky, CEO of Mel Trotter Ministries says quote, “The winter season is approaching and with it comes the cold reality that many people in our community are in need of assistance,” he adds, “This year, with rising costs and a shortage of affordable housing, the need for winter clothing for people who are homeless is greater than ever.” End quote.

The public can drop items off at the Mel Trotter Shelter at 225 Commerce Avenue SW in Grand Rapids, or at blue barrel locations placed throughout the community.
