Patrick Waterman is Ottawa County’s next county administrator, having been selected last week by the Board of Commissioners

Patrick Waterman currently serves as deputy city manager for the City of Wyoming where he oversees multiple departments. Prior to that, he served as Ottawa County’s Deputy County Administrator but resigned in 2023 claiming he was unable to form a professional working relationship with then-County Administrator John Gibbs.

Waterman also served as city manager of Hudsonville for 12 years, where he led revitalization efforts while expanding housing opportunities.

He holds a Master of Public Administration from Grand Valley State University and a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University.

In a statement to WGVU, Waterman said, “I am deeply honored by the opportunity to serve as the next county administrator. I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board of Commissioners, elected officials, county staff, our local units of government and members of the community to build upon the county’s existing strengths and address future challenges. I’m optimistic about the future and eager to contribute to the important work ahead.”
