To celebrate the return of the “Turkey Trot” to downtown Grand Rapids, a special kick off event is being held on the morning of the 15th just outside of Van Andel Arena... which is the starting line for this year’s race.

Officials say the event will provide an opportunity for businesses and community leaders to learn more about the Turkey Trot, the GRPS Foundation and more.

In its 33rd year, this marks Blue Care Network of Michigan’s 11th year as presenting sponsor.

Dr. Leadriane Roby, GRPS Superintendent, says quote, “The Grand Rapids Public Schools Turkey Trot is a reflection of our community’s dedication to supporting our incredible scholars,” adding, “We’re proud to see our families, neighbors, and businesses come together each year to uplift GRPS and celebrate the season with purpose.”

The Turkey Trot is aiming to top last year’s record-breaking success, which saw over 64-hundred participants and raised more than 300-thousand dollars for GRPS Athletics through registrations, sponsorships, and donations.
