In two weeks, Grand Rapids Public Schools will welcome students and staff to the new home of Southeast Career Pathways.
That’s where the old Sigsbee Elementary School received a $7 million upgrade.
“When you walk in after these renovations, I think it'll be hard to even remember that you're in the same building.”

Luke Stier is GRPS Communications director.
“There's fresh colors, new LED lighting, more than double the natural light with larger windows going into the classrooms and as you know, safety is always our number one priority. This project is one of three that we've done this year where we've added a new safe and secure entrance.”
Stier says the Sigsbee renovation is one of many big projects launching in the next few weeks as part of the district’s “Reimagine GRPS” initiative.
“We will gather to show off renovations at Houseman Field and will also unveil a new neighborhood health clinic inside Harrison Park Academy, and just down the road here we're going to start building our new elementary school in Northeast Grand Rapids. We also have a new environmental science academy coming to Southeast Grand Rapids. So, a lot of exciting projects that will benefit kids in our city in the years to come.”
GRPS will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for the community Wednesday, August 6.
