Mixed-use Vista 45 project gets approval to build 200+ apartments, commercial space

Walker Planning Commission submission

The Walker Planning Commission gave the go-ahead this week to a long-awaited mixed-use project in Standale along Lake Michigan Drive/M-45

Vista 45 is a village-style development with 242 apartments in eight buildings, a pool, club house, dog park, and commercial space on the southwest side of Wilson Avenue and Lake Michigan Drive in Standale between the Meijer and the Goodwill Store.

The 60-acre vacant land is owned by Jag Development partnering with the Grand Haven-based Cherette Group.

The Walker Planning Commission approved the preliminary site plan after developers made changes that better align with the city’s master plan.

Brandan Simon with Progressive Companies, civil engineers for the developers, says changes included utilities, parking, and landscaping.

“We tweaked a little bit of building layout, the clubhouse was rotated a little bit, and previously we had a drive on the west side of the clubhouse which we removed to try to lessen the number of cuts off that road and reduce some wetland impact.”

Developers are also awaiting approval from the Michigan Department of Transportation on road access and a new traffic signal.
