Baker College’s Muskegon campus is partnered with Trinity Health Michigan offering a paid CT Training Program responding to the demand for certified CT technicians.
“It’s amazing, the need for CT techs right now. You can just do a search nationwide; you’re going to get over 10,000 jobs.”
Dr. Chris Schmidt is Associate Dean for the College of Health Science at Baker. He says the best part of the program is Trinity Health fully covers tuition during a student’s 23 weeks of full-time training.
“Usually, those new employees, they take six months to almost two years to really get comfortable in their position. If you give formal educated training, having them pass their national certification, you can expedite that process by a good year or two.”
The program allows participants to complete Baker’s online coursework and gain hands-on clinical experience, leading to a full-time paid position with benefits at Trinity.
“As x-ray becomes more specialized, you really need the critical training. Traditionally, you do hands-on training, kind of learn as you go, but now the machines are so sophisticated, you’re dealing with stroke patients, cardiac patients, so you really need to know the anatomy and the pathologies.”
