“Right now, we’re over 50% completed with the project, 76% funded with the project, so it’s a really cool time to take a look at where we’re at in the project currently.”
Wardell Frazier is Executive Director of The Diatribe. He says while the group has raised $6.8 million to fund the renovation of the 22,000 square foot building that will serve as The Emory’s home, more funds are needed to complete the project.

“Due to the rise in costs and construction, that upped that number and increased that number to close to $2 million, so we still have that gap.”
The building, located in the 2000 block of South Division in the Burton Heights Business District, will include eight affordable housing units, workspaces for community artists, four retail spaces and a rental space for performing arts and private events.

“Bringing The Emory Arts and Culture Hub has the opportunity to bring all walks of life to the Burton Heights area. When I think about an event space created and curated for artists, I don’t really think we have anything like that in this area right now.”
