Lacroix Electronics operates in six countries with almost 4,000 employees making electronic equipment for various manufacturers. Now, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN letter sent to the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, the company plans to close its Grand Rapids production facility in the 1600 block of Michigan Street Northeast.
The company will also close its Juarez, Mexico site, resulting in over 1,200 layoffs across the two facilities.
Lacroix said the annual revenue generated by its North American sites is down by 15% and tariffs have created uncertainty over future U.S. demand.
Layoffs at Lacroix’s Grand Rapids facility will begin next month, with final separations occurring by December 31st. It also noted it is “actively seeking investment to continue its operations in Grand Rapids” but would close if the necessary investment was not met.
