The Grand Rapids Chamber and Comcast are announcing the launch of a grant program supporting entrepreneurs and small business growth in West Michigan

Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and surrounding areas will be one of five regions throughout the U.S. where eligible small businesses will be able to receive $3 million in grants through Comcast RISE this year.

“The grant program will be issued to 100 local small businesses.”

Jenny Waugh is Vice President of Economic Growth for the Grand Rapids Chamber.

“The grant itself is a $5,000 monetary grant and then wraparound services in addition to that.”

Those services include a technology makeover, educational resources, business consultation, and creative production and media.

“Comcast will help the business produce a 30-second TV commercial, and then create a media strategy program, and then send the commercial through their platforms for one hundred eighty days.”

Waugh says she hopes this program shines a light on the help small businesses still need.

“We’ve changed our consumer behavior since COVID just in the last few years and our small businesses, our local businesses, are struggling a little.”

Applications will be accepted May1-31, and grants will be awarded in August. More information can be found here.
