The Amway Stadium will seat 8,500 with potential to expand to 11,000 in tiered seats, boxes, suites, and will feature an open concourse.
Slated to open spring 2027, the $175 million stadium will be home to a men’s professional soccer team, hosting 17 games a year plus community tournaments and events on nearly eight acres of land just west of US 131, neighboring the David D. Hunting YMCA.
So, what goes into building such a project?
Rockford is the construction lead, and its President/CEO Shane Napper shared some interesting numbers.
“175 miles of wires and cable, over 2,000 light fixtures, 10 miles of HVAC piping, and one three-story scoreboard.”
Along with 12 million pounds of concrete, 678,000 pounds of rebar and more than 18,000 tons of structural steel.
Napper says the team is halfway through the procurement process for subcontractors.
“I’m happy to tell you we have a number of micro-local and under-represented trade contractors and businesses that are going to be represented in this project.”

The team also shared an interactive QR code that puts the viewer right in the center of the pitch, with a 360-degree view of what the stadium will look like from the field.
