Two members of the international student community have had their student visas revoked by the federal government, Grand Valley State University released in a statement Tuesday.
University leaders learned of the revocation when staff members reviewed records maintained by the Department of Homeland Security after seeing media reports about visas being revoked for students at other universities around the country.
GVSU has not been contacted by Homeland Security about the reasons the visas are being revoked.
A university team has reached out to the two students and is offering support to the rest of the international student community.
The statement went on to say “International students have been part of GVSU’s campus community since 1963. They are welcome here and contribute much to the vitality of our campus.”
