Dr. Abass Alavi and his wife, Jane, made the $100,000 donation recently to the health care group’s foundation.
Dr. Alavi is a pioneering figure in the field of molecular imaging and nuclear medicine, playing a pivotal role in the development and clinical adoption of positron emission tomography, or PET imaging, helping to transform how diseases are diagnosed and monitored.
BAMF Health provides advanced diagnostics and treatment for various types of cancer and created the FMAB to support three key initiatives: patient access, education, and research.
Dr. Alavi and BAMF researchers have been collaborating for years, exploring a number of applications for total-body PET imaging.
Dr. Alavi stated that his decision to support the foundation stems from the recognition that his collaboration with BAMF has the potential to bring transformative changes to research and patient care.
In December, BAMF received its first major donation to the FMAB from the Kid Rock Foundation. Kid Rock, who’s real name is Bob Ritchie, made the donation in honor of his father, who received treatment from BAMF Health during a years-long battle with prostate cancer.
