Senate Republicans want to end tax credits for electric vehicles

They are also re-introducing a proposal to tax all EV manufacturers one thousand dollars for each vehicle sold

GOP Senator John Barrasso introduced legislation to end a tax credit of up to $7,500 for those who buy certain electric vehicles.

Three years ago Congress passed bills to incentivize buying EVs in order to help limit greenhouse gas emissions.

President Trump regularly blasted those incentives at every Michigan stop in last year’s campaign.

Senate Republicans are also re-introducing a proposal to tax all EV manufacturers one thousand dollars for each vehicle sold.

The money would go to the federal Highway Trust Fund...which helps maintain roads and bridges.

Most of that fund is currently paid for by gasoline taxes.
