At least five protesters are banned from campus, two are students, but they are only allowed to attend class or seek medical treatment

The lawsuit was filed by 2 students, 2 alumni, and an area resident. None of the protesters were ever charged with a crime.

ACLU of Michigan Attorney Ramis Dawood says it’s not known if UofM is specifically targeting pro-Palestinian protesters, however;

“Over the last year and a half, virtually all of the complaints that the ACLU of Michigan has received about free speech issues on college campuses have been from Pro Palestine protesters.”

Calling it “vague” the ACLU is also challenging UofM’s recently implemented policy that further aims to crackdown on protests the school deems “disruptive.”
