The Whitmer-Gilchrist administration says it is proud to recognize the Detroit Lions for their historic season

On Saturday, January 18, the Detroit Lions will kick off their first game in the 2025 NFL Playoffs, facing off against the Washington Commanders. The Detroit Lions currently have a 15-2 record, clinched the #1 seed as NFC North Champions, and scored an impressive 493 points—setting a new franchise record for most points in a season.

Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II proclaimed January 18 as Honolulu Blue Day in Michigan, celebrating the Detroit Lions’ exceptional 2024-25 season and rallying support as they kick off their playoff campaign.

The Whitmer-Gilchrist administration says it is proud to recognize the Detroit Lions for their historic season and the inspiration they bring to communities all across the state.

The governor’s office is encouraging Michiganders encouraged to wear Honolulu Blue in a show of support for the Lions.
